| Moose Update For Week Of 10/21/07 - 10/27/07 |
![]() The Moose came out with a winning record last week despite key injuries to three of their top 6 forwards. Check out which prospect surprisingly led the team in points and penalty minutes last week, and how the rest of the boys faired. By fergo - Hockey's Future There's good news and bad news on the Moose front this week. Vancouver's farm team won two of three games, but ended up with three guys making their way onto Manitoba's injury list after their past two games with the Rockford IceHogs. Jason Jaffray suffered the first injury, hurting his wrist in Manitoba's 4-3 loss to Rockford on Thursday night. Jaffray took in Friday morning practice, but left early due to his sore wrist, and missed Friday night's game. He's listed as day-to-day. Jozef Balej looks to have the most severe injury of the three, as his knee injury on Friday will keep him out of the lineup for at least 6-8 weeks, though from the sounds of the article in the Winnipeg Free Press this morning, the recovery process could take longer than that. Ryan Shannon received his own knee injury Friday with a knee-on-knee hit delivered by Rockford defenceman Jordan Hendry. While his injury is not as severe as Balej's, Shannon will miss action for 4-6 weeks. Despite the injury to three of Manitoba's offensive weapons, the Moose could still field a decent, yet relatively inexperienced top two lines. If Jaffray is still hurt come Wednesday, veteran Brad Moran may centre a line with Colby Genoway and Jannik Hansen (who just came back from his own injury), while players like Michael Grabner, Juraj Simek, and the surprising Pierre-Cedric Labrie (who I've dubbed "P-C Thug" for some reason. I guess it just sounds good. ) might see extra ice time. It's likely Greg Classen will centre the second line with two of those three players on his wings. Moose signee Alexandre Bolduc might also get the chance to centre the second scoring line.2007-08 RECORD: 5-3-1-0 Discuss it in the Moose forum! |
