Starting Goalie Rankings
Last updated: January 16th
Having trouble deciding which, if any goalie to play in your Fantasy Hockey Pool? Well if you are, Canucks Fanz has you covered. Starting with the games on October 8th, Canucks Fanz will post its "Starting Goalie Rankings" for each NHL gameday!

2008-01-16
Must Start
Brodeur vs. NYI - Does anybody else remember how worried people were about Brodeur after the first few weeks of the season? Well, his 24 wins, 2.10GAA, .920SV%, and 4 shutouts should have gone a long way in making everyone forget.
Legace @ CHI - Legace gave up 3 goals in his last start, but the last time that he gave up more than 2 was three weeks ago. Chicago won for the first time in 9 games in their last game, but in those 9 games, they only scored 16 goals.

Good Start
Niittymaki vs. FLA* - Niitty wasn't all that great in his most recent start, but his numbers for his most recent 5 starts still aren't bad at all. He's 4-0-1 with a 1.79GAA and an outstanding .954SV%.
Harding vs. CGY - Lemaire's been going to the hot hand all year, so I'm fairly sure we'll see Harding here. The Flames' offense was playing very well (28 goals in 8 games), but they've really cooled off lately.

Toss Up
DiPietro @ NJ - If he goes, I like his matchup. The Devils are tough to beat right now (8-2-0 in their last 10), but they don't score a lot. DiPietro shut the Devils out in their last meeting.
Miller @ NYR - The good news is that Miller has been outstanding lately. In his last 7 games, he's posted a GAA of 1.91 and a SV% of .929. The bad news is that he's lost all seven games.
Lundqvist vs. BUF - Lundy has been pretty bad lately, but the Sabres' offense has been worse. In their last 8 games, the Sabres have managed a paltry 12 goals.

Weak Start
Vokoun @ PHI - Vokoun has allowed 3 or more goals in 7 of 9 games. In an odd coincidence, the Flyers have scored 3 or more goals in 7 of 9 games. That doesn't bode well for Vokoun.
Kiprusoff @ MIN - Is there a chance that CuJo starts here? No matter which goalie starts, I don't really like the matchup. The Wild are averaging 3.5G/game over their last 8 games.
Lalime vs. STL* - Lalime played very well against the Preds and broke the Hawks losing streak in the process. His performance has earned him another start tonight, but with the Blues offense scoring 17 goals in their last 4 games, I don't really like the matchup.

Don't Start

Vokoun, Nittymaki, Miller, Lundqvist, Dipietro, Brodeur, Lalime confirmed.

2008-01-15
Must Start
Luongo @ CLB - Luongo is a must start against any team in the league. Against a defense-first team like the Jackets, there's no reason to bench him.
Osgood vs. ATL* - Ozzie had his worst start of the year in his last game, but he's been so good this year, you can't really hold it against him. Last time he allowed more than 3 goals, he came back with a shut out in his next start.
Nabokov @ PHX - Nabby's night off could really affect his rhythm. I almost ranked him lower
Giguere vs. DAL - Giggy's won 7 of his last 10 starts. He's only allowed 16 goals in those 10 games.

Good Start
Huet @ NYI* - I'm a little bit torn on this one. The matchup is great, but Huet's performance has tailed off some in his last few starts (3.38GAA, .881SV% in his last 5). The good news for Huet owners is that he's starting here after being pulled.
Leclaire vs. VAN - Since xmas, Pascal is 5-1-0 with a 1.78GAA and a .933SV%. The Canucks have only scored 22 goals in their last 10 games.
Theodore @ TB* - Jose has now started 5 in a row. He's 3-2-0 with a 2.16GAA and a .921SV% in those 5 games. The Bolts have won 2 of 3, but those are the only 2 wins they've got in their last 10 games, but they are averaging 2.7 goals over that span.
Garon vs. LA - It's looking more and more like Garon is the new #1 in EDM, and with the way he's been playing, he deserves it. Over his last 10 starts, Garon's got a GAA of 1.97 and a SV% of .935. He's 6-4-0 with 1 shutout in those ten games, but he's won 5 straight.
Turco @ ANH* - Over his last 12 starts, Turco is 7-3-1 with a GAA of 2.12 and a SV% of .911, and that includes the meltdown against the Wild. If you take that game away, his stats rival those of the hottest goalies in the league.

Toss Up
DiPietro vs. MTL - DiPi's been alternating good start/bad start for about two weeks. I don't read too much into that kind of thing, but in his last 6 starts, he's got a GAA of 2.73 and a SV% of .923. Those numbers aren't terrible, but I really don't like the matchup. MTL has scored 33 goals in their last 8 games.
Emery @ WSH* - Emery came up huge against the Wings, but he's been mediocre for most of the season. The Caps have had the Sens number all year. They're 3-0-0, and have scored 18 goals in those 3 games.
Toskala vs. CAR - I guess those rumors about Vesa reinjuring himself were a bit overblown. Anyway, Vesa's only been average since coming back (3.44GAA/.840SV%) It might not be all his fault though, as the Leafs are really on a slide. CAR is also playing poorly right now (3-6-1, 22G in their last 10).
Kiprusoff @ NSH - Over his last 9 starts, Kipper's GAA is 3.03 and his SV% is .898. He has won five of those games. Those numbers are average at best. With CuJo on board, I wonder if Kipper may lose some starts.
NSH Goalie vs. CGY - Both NSH goalies have played well in their most recent starts. I'm thinking that it'll be Mason here, but we'll probably get more info tomorrow. The Flames' offense has been extremely consistent of late.
Bryzgalov vs. SJ - I'll probably catch some flak for this one, but Bryz hasn't been at his best recently (10GA in his last 150mins of play). SJ is a very dangerous road team. They're 10-0-1 in their last 11 road games, and they've scored 32 goals over that span.

Weak Start
Kolzig vs. OTT - Even though Kolzig has beaten OTT three times this year and the Sens are missing Heatley, I still think the Sens will beat WSH. I did say the same thing about the OTT vs. the Isles, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.
CAR Goalie @ TOR - Leighton seems like the obvious starter here, but Laviolette tricked me last time, so I'll reserve my guess until more info is available. I'm not really confident in either CAR goalie, but I know that the Leafs aren't playing strong hockey right now (13G in their last 8).
LaBarbera @ EDM* - He's got a couple of good starts in a row now. Hopefully, he'll be able to build on them to put together a bit of a run. The Kings could really use some strong goaltending. Anyway, I want to see some more from the young LA netminder before I go recommending that anyone start him.

Don't Start
Lehtonen @ DET* - Kari's had two good games in a row, but he hasn't shown me enough to prove that he's ready to stop a team like the Wings.
TB Goalie vs. COL - Holmie won his last start, but he wasn't exactly stellar. Ramo's been getting most of the action, so he could go. As a team, TB hasn't held an opponent to less than 3 goals since December 27 (7 games).

*Goalie has been confirmed. Click asterisk for source (if available).

Osgood, Lehtonen, Theodore, Turco, Labarbera, Emery, Huet, Leighton, Toskala, Johnson, Garon confirmed.

2008-01-14
Must Start

Good Start
Conklin vs. NYR - Conklin finally lost, but it took 65+ minutes. I haven't watched a single game, but with this being the only game on the schedule, I may have to check it out just to see what's so different between the Conklin that's playing for the Pens and the one that stunk it up with the Oilers, Jackets, and Sabres.

Toss Up
Lundqvist @ PIT - His game against Montreal gives me hope that a Lundqvist reemergence may be on the way, but until it arrives, I'd still be somewhat wary of starting him against a team as hot as the Pens.

Weak Start

Don't Start

Conklin and Lundqvist confirmed.

2008-01-11
Must Start
Luongo vs. PHX - If he goes, there is absolutely no reason to bench him. I guess there is some speculation that he may get a night off, so check back later for more info.

Good Start
STL Goalie @ CLB - The way Legace is playing right now, I think there's a decent chance he'll go B2B. No matter which STL goalie goes, CLB is always a pretty good matchup.
Harding @ CHI - Harding played pretty well in relief of Backstrom last night. I'd imagine he'll start tonight. CHI is an attractive matchup right now, as they've only scored 12 goals in their last 7 games.
Kiprusoff vs. NYI - Kipper's numbers continue to hover around the league average, and that isn't exactly what people who drafted him were looking for. I like him in this game because the Isles' little offensive hot streak seems to be over. They've only scored 3 goals in their last 3 games.

Toss Up
Leclaire vs. STL - Yahoo and the HI goalie page both think he's going to start. I'm not sure how he'll play coming off of this somewhat strange ailment. The Blues' offense has actually been playing well lately (19G in last 6 games).
DiPietro @ CGY - DiPietro has played pretty well since coming back from injury, but his team is giving him little support. Prior to being shut down by the Yotes, the Flames had scored 22 goals in their last 6 games.
PHX Goalie @ VAN - With Bryz struggling like he did last night, the starter for tonight's game is up in the air. Whichever goalie goes will face a Vancouver offense that has been held to only 9 goals in their last 5 games.

Weak Start
Khabibulin vs. MIN* - Khabby played a good game against the Stars, but he still lost. I can't figure out the Minnesota offense, but considering that they played a tough game last night, they may come out flat.

Khabibulin, Leclaire, Sanford confirmed.

2008-01-10
Must Start
Brodeur @ CAR - Marty has only allowed 9 goals in his last 7 starts. He won't maintain this pace, but you have to play him while he's this hot.
Osgood vs. MIN - DET is the best defensive team in the league. At 2.05GA/game they are more than a tenth of a goal better than their nearest competitor (VAN @ 2.26GA/game).
Legace vs. DAL - Manny has been dominant lately. He's only allowed 2 goals in his last 269 minutes on the ice. It also doesn't hurt that the Stars have only scored 10 goals in their last 6 games.
Luongo @ SJ - Roberto has held opponents to 2 or less goals in 13 of his last 15 games. He hasn't allowed more than 3 goals in a game since November 20th.
Nabokov vs. VAN - Nabby has a similarly impressive 2 or less goals ratio. In his last 26 games he's held opponents to 2 or less in 21 of thoes games. If you're looking for a high scoring game, the SJ/VAN game may not be the game for you.

Good Start
Niittymaki @ NYR - He's got three great games in a row, so I'm guessing he'll go again. He's got a nice matchup as the Rangers are without some of their best players.
Conklin @ TB - Conklin continues to prove me wrong. I really thought his first few games were just a fluke, but he's played better over the last few games than Fleury or Sabourin had for any stretch this season.
OTT Goalie vs. BUF - I was thinking that Emery would start after winning two straight, but TSN's Ice Chips have Gerber listed as the starter with the practice lines. Whichever goalie starts will have a great matchup, as the Sabres offense is in a serious slump. They've only scored 8 goals in their last 6 games.
Huet @ BOS - Even though Huet hasn't been at his best recently, he's won his last two starts, and I'm expecting him to get the nod tonight. Even with his last three subpar starts, he's still posted a 5-0-2 record with a 2.38GAA and a .922SV% since returning from injury last month.
Smith @ STL - With Turco getting last night's game, I'm going to guess Smith will go tonight. Whichever goalie starts will be facing a Blues team that blew out the Blue Jackets on Tuesday. Prior to that win, however, the Blues had only managed 9 goals in 7 games.
Bryzgalov @ EDM - 2008 has been very kind to Bryzgalov. He's 3-0-0 in his three starts with a GAA of 1.62 and a SV% of .943. He's beaten the Avs, Ducks, and Flames, so it's not like he's beating up on cellar dwellers.
Garon vs. PHX - Garon has been dominant in his last two starts. He's also started 4 in a row, so a good performance here could really cement his place as the #1 goalie in EDM. The only thing that worries me is that the Yotes are coming in having won 5 straight, scoring 16 goals in the process.

Toss Up
Vokoun @ ATL
- Vokoun continues to struggle. He's now allowed 3 or more goals in 6 of his last 8 starts. The Thrashers have scored 20 goals in their last 6 games.
Lehtonen vs. FLA - With Hedberg losing to the Flyers, I expect Kari to get another chance in nets for the Thrashers. He's been good more often than he's been bad lately, but the Panthers did hang four on him in their last meeting.
Lundqvist vs. PHI - The way King Henrik was playing to start the season I didn't think I'd see his name written in anything but blue all year. Unfortunately, that is not the case anymore. He's given up 3 or more in 6 of 8, and the Flyers have averaged 3G/game over their last 7.
Ward vs. NJ - I'm guessing that Laviolette will try to build on Cam's shutout, but I wouldn't be too surprised to see Leighton get another shot. Either of them would have a favorable matchup as the Devils are averaging less than 2G/game over their last 9.
Thomas vs. MTL - Thomas has definitely regained the #1 spot in Boston, but he's also going up against one of the hottest offenses in the league right now. The Habs have scored 27G in their last 6.

Weak Start
Miller @ OTT - Miller has struggled against Ottawa his whole career, and this year has been no exception. He's 1-2-0 with a 3.44GAA and a SV% of .882.
MIN Goalie @ DET - Neither MIN goalie has been playing well recently. In their last 8 games the Wild have given up 31 goals. Detroit is not the kind of matchup you want when your goalies are playing poorly.

Don't Start
Ramo vs. PIT - He broke TB's 7 game losing streak, so he'll probably get another start as a reward (or punishment depending how you look at it). Unfortunately, he plays for the worst team in the East and the worst defensive team in the league. PIT's offense has scored 23 goals in their last 7 games.
Raycroft @ LA - Raycroft has sucked all year. His GAA for the year is 3.79 and his SV% is only slightly less atrocious at .878. He's only earned wins in 2 of his 14 games.
LA Goalie vs. TOR - After the shellacking that the Preds laid on the Kings, I really don't know what to expect. Either way, the Kings have earned fewer points than any other and are the second worst defensive team in the league.

Thibault, Huet, Gerber, Osgood, Nittymaki, Lehtonen, Lundqvist, Thomas, Garon confirmed.

2008-01-08
Must Start
Lundqvist vs. TB - I'm pretty stubborn when it comes to my default must start guys, but with Lundy, it may be time to start rethinking his status. The struggling bolts are a nice matchup, but they also have the weapons to score in bunches.
Brodeur vs. BUF - Marty's won 5 of his last 6 starts, allowing only 8 goals. He's also recorded two shutouts in that span. With the struggling Sabres (0-4-2, 10G in last 6) coming to town, all signs point to Marty having a good night.
Hasek vs. COL* - The Dominator lived up to his moniker in shutting down the Stars on Satruday. He's been dominant all around lately, allowing only 6 goals in his last 5 starts.
Luongo vs. NYI - This is a matchup of one of the league's best goalies against one of the league's worst offenses. If only every fantasy hockey decision were as easy as this one...

Good Start
Thomas vs. CAR - Timmy seems to have returned to pre-injury form. He's won three straight starts and has posted very good stats in each game (1SO, 2 games with SV% of .933). The Canes have lost 4 of 5, scoring only 11 goals in the process.
Conklin @ FLA - Conkin continues to roll. He's 7-0-0 with a GAA of 2.00 and a SV% of .939. He's also recorded 2 shutouts in his short stint with Pittsburgh. I don't know how long the ride will last, but those of you who have him might as well ride him while he's hot.
Huet vs. CHI* - Huet has definitely been the better MTL goalie since coming back from his injury. His last two games haven't been his best, but he hasn't lost in regulation since before being hurt. The Hawks are in a bit of a funk (0-1-4, only 8 goals for in their last 5).
Norrena @ STL - With Pascal suffering from some kind of viral infection, I expect to see Norrena in nets for the Jackets. He's benefited from Hitchcock's system nearly as much as Leclaire has and has posted solid numbers all year. He'll be facing a Blues team that suddenly can't score at home (5G in their last 5 at home).
Legace vs. CLB - Manny's been nothing short of spectacular lately. He's currently in the midst of a 143 minute stretch where he hasn't conceded a goal. Granted, CLB is playing well right now, but when a goalie is this hot, just play him.
Bryzgalov @ CGY - In his last 9 starts, Bryz has posted a 6-2-1 record with a GAA of 2.05 and a SV% of .936. The Flames have been hot, though. They've won 5 in a row and have scored 19 goals in those 5 games. Consider this a tentative good start.

Toss Up
Niittymaki @ ATL* - He's got two good games in a row, but making 54 saves may tell us more about the Flyers than Niitty. In fact, the Flyers allow more SOG/game than any team in the league. I would rank Niitty higher, but ATL is averaging almost 4G/game over their last 6.
ATL Goalie vs. PHI - The Thrashers had been employing what looked like a rotation, but with Hedberg picking up a quality win and Lehtonen struggling, I think we may see the Moose again. The Flyers are in the midst of a mini scoring slump (4G in their last 3) and losing Lupul doesn't help.
Miller @ NJ - Miller has lost his last 5 starts, and the Sabres have lost 6 as a team. Ryan hasn't been playing poorly, but the team has struggled offensively. NJ would normally be a nice matchup, as they don't score much, but with the struggles that the BUF offense is having, I would think the Devils are a pretty sure bet to win this one.
Vokoun vs. PIT
- Vokoun has allowed 3 or more goals in 5 of his last 7 starts. He's also lost 5 of 7 and 4 in a row. The Pens offense has been up and down all season, but they've scored 20 in their last 6. That number may be a bit skewed considering that 6 of the 20 came in one game.
Kiprusoff vs. PHX - Kipper is winning games, but I'm pretty sure that his fantasy owners were expecting more than just W's when they drafted the former Vezina winner. Despite winning 5 straight, Kipper's numbers have remained average (2.57GAA, .918 SV% during current win streak).
DiPietro @ VAN - DiPi hasn't won a game since December 22nd. During this span he's got a GAA of 3.53 and a SV% of .894. I don't expect him to continue to struggle this much, and the Canucks are only averaging 2.6G/game over their last 8, so I almost ranked him higher.

Weak Start
Ward @ BOS* - I'm not really sure why Laviolette is going back to Ward here. Maybe he's thinking that Leighton's success will have shocked Ward back into the form we saw to start the year. I'm sure that there are a lot of fantasy owners who have their fingers crossed.
COL Goalie @ DET - I really don't know what to expect from Quenneville on this one. Theo is coming off an impressive win, but Budaj hasn't been too bad lately. It really shouldn't matter much for fantasy purposes, as the Wings should roll over a COL team that has struggled on the road all year.
Mason @ LA - With Ellis losing badly last night, I'm pretty sure Trotz will go back to Mason, but I wouldn't recommend doing the same with your fantasy squad. Mason has been inconsistent all year, and LA has been scoring in bunches lately (22G in their last 5).
LA Goalie vs. NSH - LaBarbera had been playing pretty well, but he got shelled by the Flames in his last start. Aubin has been mediocre all year, but Crawford may go to him anyway. The Preds offense has been scoring with consistency (26G in their last 9 games).

Don't Start
TB Goalie @ NYR - Until things turn around in Tampa, I wouldn't start Holmie or Ramo. The Bolts have allowed 29 goals during their 7 game losing streak.
Khabibulin @ MTL
- Khabby's lost 4 straight in regulation. In these 4 games he's got a GAA of 3.73 and a SV% of .868. I expect him to rebound (he'd gone 4-1-0 in his previous 5), but not against the red hot Habs (24G in their last 6).

Hasek, Ward, Nittymaki, Huet, Theodore, Lundqivst, Lalime, Thomas, Ramo confirmed.

2008-01-07
Must Start
Giguere vs. NSH - I've already said this a few times, but you can trace Giggy's turn around to the Dec. 16th game against the Sharks. This was the night that S. Niedermayer returned to the ANH lineup. Since then, Giggy's given up only 11 goals in 7 games. The Preds have only scored 12G in their last 7 road games.

Good Start
Backstrom @ DAL* - Despite the fact that the Stars put up 8 on the Wild in their last trip to Dallas, I like Backstrom against the struggling Stars. After winning 8 of 9, the Stars have now lost 4 straight, scoring only 4 goals in those games.
DiPietro @ EDM - DiPietro is coming off of a very solid game against the Avs, and prior to his injury he'd been playing pretty well. EDM's offense has only managed 19G in their last 10 games.
Ellis @ ANH - Ellis has been outstanding for the Preds. He's started their last 3 games, winning all 3 and posting great numbers in the process. He allowed 3 goals on 80 shots in 180 minutes of play. The Ducks' offense has only averaged 2G/game over their last 6.

Toss Up
Turco vs. MIN* - I don't think we have to worry about a 12.86GAA and .250SV%, but Turco hasn't been very good recently. The Wild offense has been consistent but not overly explosive, scoring 30G in their last 9 games.
Garon vs. NYI* - Garon has now started 3 games in a row (and 7 of 10) and seems to be in position to steal the #1 job. In his last 7 starts, Garon is 3-4-0 with a 2.39GAA and a .920SV%. I would've ranked him higher, but the NYI offense has been slightly better than their season average lately.

Weak Start

Don't Start

Backstrom, Turco, Garon confirmed.

2008-01-05
Must Start
Hasek @ DAL* - The Stars' hot streak has come to a screeching halt. They've lost 3 in a row, scoring only 5 goals in those three games.
Brodeur @ BOS - Marty was dominant last night. He just continues to cement his place as one of the greatest goalie of all time.
Lundqvist @ EDM - I'm sure I'll hear some moaning with this one, but I really can't see Lundy's cold streak lasting too much longer.
Nabokov vs. CLB - The Sharks' lackluster record on home ice has little to do with Nabokov. His team just can't put up any goals for him at home.

Good Start
Conklin vs. FLA - Alright, I'll admit he's playing well, I've just never been impressed by him. Hopefully, for the Pens' sake, he can keep it up.
Gerber vs. TB - Emery played pretty well, but I'm going to guess Gerber for the second of the B2B games. I'd rank him lower based on his recent play, but TB is just awful right now.
Thomas vs. NJ - He's coming off of his first shutout, and the Devils aren't exactly an offensive power (worst offense in the league, to be precise).
Backstrom @ NSH - Backer played well enough to beat Dallas, so I'm going to guess he gets the nod again tonight.
Bryzgalov vs. ANH - Bryz has been really good at home this year (whether in ANH or PHX). The Ducks haven't been scoring much.
Leclaire @ SJ - Leclaire has returned to form lately, and the Sharks are, surprisingly, one of the worst home teams in the league.
Kiprusoff @ LA - I gave him a good ranking, and he came through with a good game. Let's see if he can keep the streak (of 1) alive.

Toss Up
Vokoun @ PIT - The Penguins have been playing well, and Vokoun has been a little bit off his game.
Price vs. WSH* - Price has been good but not great all year, and I'm wondering how being relegated to a backup role will affect his play. The Caps play has really improved lately.
Niittymaki @ TOR - I'd normally rank Niitty lower, but he's played alright lately, and the Leafs' offense has been slumping.
Ellis vs. MIN - Trotz has proven me wrong time and again, but with Ellis winning his last two starts, I can't see why he'd go back to Mason.
Legace vs. CAR - I think I read somewhere that Manny is fine, but if anybody has better info, please post. With all the injuries that the Canes are dealing with, I almost ranked him higher.
Hiller @ PHX - I don't think Giggy has been starting in both games of B2B sets, but we'll probably get a confirmation tomorrow.
DiPietro @ COL - Did he get suspended for changing his pads? I haven't heard any new news. Anyway, I don't like the matchup, as the Avs are dangerous at home (even with all the injuries).
COL Goalie vs. NYI - Budaj has lost two in a row, but he hasn't played too poorly. Quenneville may go to Theo just to shake things up.
LaBarbera vs. CGY - I really can't figure out why Crawford went to Aubin against CLB. LaBarbera has actually been playing really well lately.

Weak Start
Kolzig @ MTL - Kolzig played well against BOS, but it wasn't enough to win. He's been very inconsistent all year.
DAL Goalie vs. DET - I think I remember reading something about Smith starting here, but I don't think I'd put either DAL tender in against the Wings.
Clemmensen vs. PHI - I really don't think the Philly offense is going to be shutdown two nights in a row.
CAR Goalie @ STL - I didn't watch the game, but Leighton must've played pretty well. Still, I don't know if Laviolette would go back to him, and if he does, I don't know if the injury riddled Canes can win B2B games.
EDM Goalie vs. NYR - Neither EDM goalie has played well in their most recent games. I hope MacTavish gives Garon another shot, but I almost expect to see Rolo here.

Don't Start
TB Goalie @ OTT - I don't care which goalie starts. With the way Tampa is playing, leave the TB goalies on the bench (with that kind of statement by me, TB is bound to get a shutout).

Hasek, Smith, Kolzig, Price, Vokoun, Conklin, Emery, Bryzgalov, Nittymaki, Holmqvist, Theodore, Labarbera, Lundqivst, Leclaire, Raycroft, Thomas, Kiprusoff, Harding confirmed.

2008-01-04
Must Start
Brodeur vs. PHI - There's been a few bumps in the road lately, but Marty is still putting up very good numbers.

Good Start
Biron @ NJ - Biron's been streaky all year, and if his last two games are any indication, he's got a couple more good starts in him before he gets lit up. The Devils are a great matchup right now (20G in last 11 games).
Giguere vs. CHI - Giguere has really benefited from the return of Scott Niedermayer. He's won four of his last 6 starts, and he's posted impressive numbers as well (1.65GAA, .939SV%). CHI scores most of their goals at home. On the road they only average 2.5G/game.

Toss Up
Lehtonen vs. CAR - He was awful late in the loss to Boston on New Year's Eve, but prior to that start, he'd been playing extremely well. That being said, the Canes are a tough matchup (29G in their last 9 games).
OTT Goalie @ BUF - We've got a full blown controversy now. Gerber's been awful in his last two games (10GA/27SV in just 65 minutes of play). Emery had a meltdown, but he played pretty well in relief of Gerber on New Year's Day. BUF is struggling to score, so that's good news for whomever gets the nod.

Weak Start
CAR Goalie @ ATL - With Grahame being placed on waivers, we'll either see Ward or Leighton here. I wouldn't risk starting either, as the Canes are in a bit of a rut right now.
Miller vs. OTT - Miller's last three games have been the definition of hard-luck losses (0-1-2, 0.95GAA, .965SV%). His bad luck continues as the Sens are coming to town averaging 4.2G/game over the last month.
Lalime @ ANH - In his limited time this year, Lalime has looked mediocre at best. He was terrible in his last appearance as he allowed 5 goals on 17 shots in a relief appearance against the Kings.
