The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly - Detroit 3 Vancouver 2

Sami Salo

This game was a bit more entertaining but when your team only musters up 15 lousy shots in a game how entertaining can it really be. Let me tell you though, Luongo was a treat to watch; as were the Red Wings.  I have come to realize very quickly that we are not a fast team this year – either that or almost every other team in the league got quicker over night.  I’m also wondering how long Dave Nonis will wait until he makes some changes up front.  It is beyond obvious that Brad Isbister, Mason Raymond and Taylor Pyatt are not the answer to our 2nd line RW’er problem.

 The Good:

- Roberto Luongo showed why he is the true star on this team; without him the score would have been ridiculous
- the Canucks never gave up
- good to see Sami Salo back

The Bad:

- don’t think this was Mattias Ohlund’s best game
- Brendan Morrison had a number of sloppy give-aways
- did Markus Naslund even dress for the game???  he was practically invisible
- Rick Rypien leaving with a hand injury; oh no here we go again :(

     The Ugly:

- 15 shots??  15 shots!!  ugh!!
- 1 shot on net during 6 power plays (not including Daniel Sedin’s goal)
- 30th in shooting in the league
- 1st in the league for taking penalties
- taking another “Too Many Men” penalty in the last few minutes of a close game
- Markus Naslund publicly complaining about the coach’s system and then not even “showing up”
