Three Questions with Dan Gendur
Canucks Fanz Columnist Farhan Devji recently caught up with yet another Canucks prospect, Dan Gendur of the Everett Silvertips, who is currently among league leaders in Western Hockey League scoring. Read why Dan thinks he's off to a torrid start, and stay tuned for "Three Questions with" many more!

Three Questions with Dan Gendur

1. You are currently among the league leaders in points, how has your role changed this season with Everett and why do you think you are producing more offensively than in years past?

DG: I think that, not just me, but many of our players’ roles have changed since last year because of the uncertainty of the return of Peter Mueller and the graduation of Moises Gutierrez. This has really magnified everyone’s role to start the season. To start last year, my role once I got traded to Everett was to try to stick with a team in the WHL. Then once I established myself on the team, my role was to play a simple game, chip pucks in and out, be good defensively, and add secondary scoring. Being a 20 year old this season, I am being counted on for leadership as well as contributing offensively on a higher level but still have the same fundamentals, in our systems, that our coaches set forth, that’s made our team successful over the years. This season has started off well for me personally. I would like to trade in some of my points for wins but I feel that our team is starting to gel and we have great things to come.

2. What do you think you need to work on most to eventually make that next step to professional hockey?

DG: I need to work on my overall game. Get bigger and stronger as well as gain valuable experience this season with a long playoff run. Moving up in all levels in hockey, organizations first look for winners and that’s what I want to be known as.

3. What was it like dawning the Canucks uniform in your hometown of Victoria this past training camp?

DG: My experience at the rookie camp in Victoria was awesome. For my first camp I thought I did ok. I wish it was a little longer because I felt I got better as the camp went on but coming back to Everett is the best situation for me.

Thanks again Dan!
