|
Manitoba's 2006-07 regular season and playoffs leading point getter and highly regarded Vancouver Canucks prospect Jason Jaffray recently took the time to talk to Canucks Fanz Columnist Farhan Devji and answer three of our questions. Read what Jason had to say, and stay tuned for "three questions with" many more!
1.You have taken on a much more physical role on the Moose this season, with 24 penalty minutes in 8 games. Is this a direct result of what coach Alain Vigneault told you at the start of the year? And what exactly is it that he told you? ![]() JJ: I think it was just a matter of adding another dimension to my game. I was a lot more physical in junior and actually did quite a bit of fighting. I'm not a guy that is going to go out and get 200 pims this year but I would like to show that I can defend myself and don't have to have guys fighting for me. Coach Arniel had a meeting with me at the end of last season and he wanted me to play more like a Gary Roberts or Brendan Shanahan. Guys that can really score but also play with an edge. 2. You got in a few exhibition games with the Canucks for your first taste of NHL action this year, how did it feel to finally dawn the Vancouver Canucks jersey and go up against players of the elite caliber? JJ: It was great to put the Canucks jersey on for the first time. It was such a great feeling to score against the Flames because my home town is only 45 minutes outside of Calgary so I have a lot of friends and family that are flames fans. It was just preseason but I am really looking forward to dawning the jersey in the near future and getting a chance to score in the regular season. 3. How is the wrist injury coming along? Should Moose fans expect to see you in the lineup any time soon? JJ: The wrist is feeling a lot better and I am expecting to play this weekend as long as everything continues to heal the way it is. It is a really frustrating injury because I haven't been able to handle a puck or shoot a puck for the last two weeks. But it should be close to 100% before the 2 games against the Grand Rapids Griffins. Thanks again Jason! Discuss it on the "Three Questions with" sub-forum. |
