The Vancouver Giants have dealt 19 year-old forward Mike Reich (left) to the Saskatoon Blades. In exchange, the Giants will receive a 7th round pick in the 2009 WHL Bantam Draft.
Reich, who was acquired earlier this season from the Regina Pats, is into his 4th season in the WHL. The 5’11”, 192lbs forward from Craik, Saskatchewan appeared in 13 games with the Giants, scoring three goals and adding one assist.
“Unfortunately for Mike he is the victim of a numbers situation with our hockey club,” says Giants General Manager Scott Bonner. “Our younger forwards have proven they deserve the ice time to develop with our team. Mike is going to a team that’s closer to his home and I know the Blades are excited to have him in their plans. We wish Mike all the best in his hockey future.”
The Giants now have 24 players on their roster (2 goalies, 8 defencemen, and 14 forwards). They will be back on home ice tonight against the Chilliwack Bruins. Face off at the Pacific Coliseum is 7:30pm PST.
Not surprised at all. Piluso and Henry have proven that they can be an everyday players. And to develop them fast it is best to give them quality ice time.
