Luongo=the only canucks chance to a stanley cup 2008/04/06 19:45 Karma: -1
After reading the fan boards on canucks.com, I am truely astonished by what canucks fans have became. First of all to all who suggest trading luongo because he had a down year should have their brains checked out not only because without him this team would have not made it to second round in the playoffs last year or get 47 wins.but also this team will be one of the bottom feeders in the NHL for years to come. However this rumor that he is unhappy here and is wanting a trade was already put to rest by luongo saying that he is very happy with this team and would love to be here. finally as a canucks season ticket holder for the last ten years the main problem I see is that if we had some second line scoring we would be fine. in my view Naslund and morrison are gone this summer because after the last game of the season when both of them spoke I can hear their tone that they dont want to be back because of the coach. to conclude this I would like to say do you think when broduer has a ok year does the devils trade him? no because they know without him they will never go anywhere. Also when Nabokov has a bad year in san jose do you think they trade him of course not because they know he is the only guy who can get them to the stanley cup.

I agree with you that trading Luongo would be the worst possible decision, and I can pretty much guarantee you that it won't happen. However, Luongo was just average down the stretch and that's why so many fans were disappointed, because we're used to seeing pure greatness from him.

He carried us on his back last season and he just wasn't mentally prepared to do that again this season. Despite his average performance down the stretch, I'm confident that he will be back to form next season. Let's just hope that Nonis brings in some personnel that can score goals!
